Wine

Winemaking, connection and sustainable systems are practices of focus

Can be found speaking wine in a variety of inclusive hospitality roles throughout NYC or traveling the globe connecting with winemakers who are passionate about their craft and the planet. Cheers, friends.

Bodegas Lagarde - Mendoza, Argentina

After beginning at Ardesia Wine Bar and working alongside Mandy Oser, owner, a future in the wine industry was realized. In 2020, I began studies at the International Wine Center and qualified with distinction in tasting and merit in theory as a WSET level 3 recipient.

Currently on the management team at Ardesia Wine Bar and a Sommelier at Pinch Chinese.

“When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine.""

Wine is ancient, biblical and has been bringing people together for centuries. My intention is to shine light and share stories of the skilled winemakers around the world that integrate their heart into the craft.  It is my mission to remind people to drink responsibly. Of course that can mean in moderation, as it is more widely perceived, but even more to my point - it is that we are finding, consuming and supporting wine that is well sourced. From people that give a damn: about quality, each other and our planet. Not simply a batched process meant to obtain maximum profit but rather a labor of love to be fully absorbed by the soul and shared with people around the world. True winemaking is entangled with the act of giving.

You can feel when a wine was cared for - from beginning to end. When the hands that cultivated it nurtured the grapes grown along with the plants and soil that they called home. Even with a more hands-off approach, letting wine evolve to be exactly who it needs to be requires a deep level of care and trust in the process. To me, that is beautiful and can be a lesson for humans in so many facets of life.

Wine IS connection. To Mother Earth, to strangers, to friends, family and to so many different communities and cultures across the globe. It is for every race, gender, class and ability. It does not discriminate. While that has not always been the case in the industry itself, it is the truth we will continue to fight for to change our trajectory forward.

Peace, love and wine,

Dominique
